Sold by the pair
The torch body is made from 8 mm aluminium. Designed by a fire eating expert, they are very durable and have the perfect tightness for vapor tricks. A well-made torch for a discipline that doesn't leave any room for error.
Our wicks are made from 100% pure Kevlar fibre and are secured by two rivets prior to being wrapped and hand sewn to ensure they stay where they should. Several finish options to fit every fire eater. There are absolutely no exposed fasteners, which makes these wicks safe to put in your mouth.
Warning
You will need to be taught fire eating by a professional before you start. Do not try fire eating on your own. We are talking about a seriously dangerous practice, not just risking burning your skin. Without proper technique you could inhale vapors and hurt yourself permanently in a single session.
Grip Options
If you want to do manipulation techniques with your torches, or have them look more professional, we can add silicone tape as well as a handle at the bottom, while still leaving space for vapor tricks. Silicone tape offers a good grip and a clean look, and we have several colors available. For extra comfort we can also add tennis grip over 20 cm.
The handle feels nicer to hold for some performers, though it is not mechanically secured, so it can't hold the torch for fast spinning the way a normal torch or sword can.
Wick Size
These torches have either a 50 mm or 35 mm wick. The 35 mm size came from a request at our workshop, for performers with smaller mouths who wanted a more comfortable fit.

A bit of history
Eating fire is one of the oldest performance arts on record. Its origins trace back to ancient practices among Hindu sadhus and fakirs in India, where it served as a demonstration of spiritual mastery and control over the body — a way to prove invincibility through spiritual empowerment. Fire eating did not attract attention from the upper classes until 1667, when an English fire eater named Richardson completed an act worthy of being recorded in France's Journal des Savants.
The most celebrated fire eater of the 18th century was Robert Powell, who allegedly swallowed not just fire but red-hot coals, melted sealing wax and brimstone, performed for European royalty for nearly sixty years, and was awarded a purse of gold and a silver medal in 1751. By the late 1880s it had become a standard part of sideshows and circus acts.
Today it lives in street performance, flow arts and contemporary circus, in the hands of artists who treat it for what it is: a precise, dangerous, and deeply serious discipline. Bon appétit!

Fire Safety
Fire eating CANNOT be self-taught. Find a qualified instructor before attempting anything. Contact us if you need help finding a qualified teacher in your area.
The burn you see coming is not the main risk. Inhaling fuel vapour over time is.
Never practice alone. A safety person with a wet towel is required at every session.
Chest tightness or breathlessness after a session: see a doctor. Symptoms can appear up to 24 hours later.
