Isopar L - Firewater
Isopar L also called Firewater - clean burning, low odour paraffin based fuel for fire performance. Ideal for fire breathing. Sold by the liter. From 12 €.
Isopar L has been used for professional fire performance for a long time, mainly among fire breathers. Until now it has been almost impossible to source in Europe at a reasonable price. We sell it directly, cheaper than any other distributor on the market, so it can finally become an accessible option for fire practice in general.
Do you actually need it? Depends. Spinning fire twice a year in your garden? A decent dearomatised paraffin like Qlima Crystal for France does the job just fine. But if fire is your daily work, if you perform indoors, or if you breathe fire: then Isopar L stops being optional.
What it is
In use, Isopar L behaves exactly like dearomatised paraffin. Same flame, same flash point (~63 °C), same way of dipping your wicks, same burn time. Switch from one to the other and you will notice no difference in the field.
What changes is what is inside. Isopar L is a synthetic isoparaffinic solvent produced by ExxonMobil from petroleum-based raw materials, processed through catalytic hydrotreatment. This is not simple distillation like standard dearomatised paraffin: the result is a very high purity product with zero aromatic hydrocarbons (versus traces in standard dearomatised paraffin), and a combustion that produces less smoke.

Less smoke:
fewer aromatics means fewer combustion residues.Near-zero odour:
a real difference in practice, especially indoors or close to an audience.Slightly lower toxicity:
minimal skin absorption, low acute and chronic toxicity profile. No oily residue:
a purer product your wicks will appreciate. The only acceptable fuel for fire breathing and indoor performances:
because ingesting or inhaling aromatics long term, even in trace amounts, is a bad idea. Human nature being what it is, we prefer to say it plainly.Fire Safety
Always manipulate fuels in a well ventilated area, away from any fire.
Keep away from children and irresponsible adults.
Never perform with fire alone: a dedicated safety assistant and a ready-to-use fire blanket are non-negotiable.
