Kevlar Beanie

A woven 100% Kevlar beanie that keeps your hair protected from the heat during fire performances

Burnt hair is one of the most common things a fire spinner takes home. A flame that catches on a wrap, and you end up smelling like a barbecue. The Kevlar beanie keeps your hair tucked away and shielded, woven from pure aramid fibre so it's extremely durable and it resists accidental splashes of lit fuel and gives you a thermal barrier when a flame passes close.

Fire gear gets filthy — soot, residue, the works — and black hides all of it session after session, so the Kevlar beanie still looks professional after its hundredth show.

Keep in mind it's flame protection first, thermal protection second. Prolonged contact with a lit prop can transfer fuel onto the beanie. Hold the heat against it long enough and it will eventually heat up. It's only a temporary protection.

Hand wash is best: lukewarm water around 30 to 40 °C, a mild detergent, no bleach and no fabric softener (both weaken the fibres). Machine works too on a delicate cycle below 30 °C, ideally in a wash bag. Air dry flat, skip the tumble dryer, and keep it out of direct sunlight when stored, since UV slowly tires the fibres out.
