Light Static Monkey Fist Poi
Light Static fire poi - 8mm Kevlar, 135 gr head, 4-5 min burn. Snappier than the original. Ideal for beginners or lighter poi lovers. Pair or triple. From €113.
A few of our clients kept asking for lighter Static Fire Poi, so eventually we did it. They use the same construction, but with 8 mm Static Kevlar instead of 10 mm, 100% Kevlar wick, non-absorbent core, just with a smaller head. If you're just getting into fire poi or you've always liked lighter props, these are probably for you.
Why choose our Light Static Fire Poi?
The head weighs 135 gr, which makes it noticeably snappier than the original without changing anything about how it's built. Same proportions, same wick construction, just less of it.
Because the core doesn't absorb fuel, the weight will change less between the beginning and the end of the burn.
Everything is made by hand in our workshop in France, by passionate fire spinners.
Static Monkey Fist Light — 135 gr
It's the same knot as the original Monkey Fist, just 65 mm across instead of 95 mm. A bit faster, a bit lighter, still properly made. If you usually spin 80 to 90 mm contact poi, or if you're starting out and don't want to throw a 210 gr head around on your first fire session, this is the one.
Burn time is around 4 to 5 minutes.

Handle Choice
PX3 by PLAY — Classic, simple, adjustable weight. 7 gr
The most basic and efficient knob.
With ropes up to 10 mm, there is enough space to secure the rope with a simple knot, allowing you to adjust the total length yourself if needed.
Washers can be added to increase weight, add a note if needed (1 washer = 3 gr).
Pom Grips by LanternSmith — Soft rubber, ergonomic. 16 gr
A refined version of the PX3. Slightly heavier and more grippy, with a very pleasant texture in the hand.
Perfect for small hands and 2 poi in 1 hand work.
Careful: they don't like long exposure to fuel. If left in contact with fuel-soaked heads, they may absorb fuel and become unusable.
Silicone Knobs by PLAY — Trusted for 10+ years, excellent balance. 30 gr
Our best seller and often the favorite for poi juggling. Dense, very durable, very grippy, with great UV colors.
Careful: prolonged contact with fuel can damage them. If they swell or become squishy, stop using them and contact us.
Widmar XL (3D printed) — Extra squishy, super comfy. 10 gr
Very soft, flat-bottomed, perfect for 2 poi in 1 hand, they naturally catch each other and sit in place.
Not grippy at all, making releases very easy. Gentle on the wrists, even with high throws.
Fuel-resistant, tear-resistant, and heat-resistant, practically unbreakable. Weight can be adjusted with washers (1 washer = 5 gr).
LED Handles by UltraPoi — Colorful and rechargeable. 26 gr
Can NOT fit Technora 12 mm. Rechargeable. Multiple light patterns. Balanced weight and texture.
Want to see your handles during night throws? Want more visuals on stage?
When spinning fire poi, the audience often can't see the handles, neither do you. These fix that.
Designed for poi spinners, jugglers, and flow artists who want a durable, bright, and versatile LED handle.
Technical
Kevlar wicks are made from spun yarn: short fibers all tangled together. Very absorbent, which is exactly what you want from a wick. The Static Kevlar rope is a completely different thing: continuous fibers, built to handle serious loads and serious heat. That's actually how pretty much every synthetic rope on the market is made.
Our 8 mm Static Kevlar, like the 10 mm, uses a rigid 48-strand construction. It's smooth, stiff, and very durable. With proper care, the Static Kevlar rope will outlast your wicks.
How to choose the right poi length?
The right length depends on your body (arm extended, thumb to chest) and your spinning style: shorter for speed and sharp stops, longer for a slower, more grounded flow.
When in doubt, go longer. You can shorten a rope, you cannot add length. We made this tab to give some reference of the average our customers like, but personal experience and preference go first.
We have a much more complete blog article about this topic: HERE
| Your height | Short Poi | Average Poi | Long Poi |
|---|---|---|---|
| 160 cm - 5'3" | 51 cm - 20" | 56 cm - 22" | 61 cm - 24" |
| 170 cm - 5'7" | 54 cm - 21" | 59 cm - 23" | 64 cm - 25" |
| 180 cm - 5'11" | 57 cm - 22.5" | 62 cm - 24.5" | 67 cm - 26.5" |
| 190 cm - 6'3" | 60 cm - 23.5" | 65 cm - 25.5" | 70 cm - 27.5" |
If your height falls between two rows, do a quick rule of three. You're a fire spinner, you can handle this.

Fire Safety
Soak 90% of the head, let the rest absorb naturally. Never soak longer than 2–3 seconds. If fuel drips from the wick, it's already too much. Even on the first burn.
Never let the poi burn without moving for more than 10–15 seconds. Technora can handle fire well while in movement.
Be careful if you have PomGrip, Silicone or LED handles. These can get damaged if kept together with your wicks. Fuel can transfer and degrade the handles permanently. Store your props in a dry place out of direct sunlight: UV slowly degrades the wicks.
Never perform with fire alone: a dedicated safety assistant and a ready-to-use fire blanket are non-negotiable.
