A puppy hammer is a long rope with a fire head at each end, no handles but with markers on the rope. Spin it fast and the tether goes taut, the prop behaves a bit like a staff. Slow it down and you're back to poi or rope dart mode. Sizing is everything: too short and the poi section becomes unmanageable, too long and the heads touch the ground. Total length is typically your height plus one poi length (short ones, 50 cm) on each side. One prop, three disciplines.
Materials & construction
A lot of Puppy Hammer artists have contributed to the development of this prop, ensuring its high quality and performance. The combination of Technora (fire-resistant) and Dyneema (soft and durable) ropes offers the perfect balance of smoothness and strength. The 100% pure Kevlar heads provide excellent durability and superior flame resistance. This prop is fully customized to your size, it has to be to work properly!

You can also add (or purchase separately) a Practice Head to match your fire head: Made by Eozoé. PVC without phthalates. You can request mixed colors in the order notes.

Sizing & markers
We use sensory markers to know when you're holding the right length, like mini handles. These grip points sit at collarbone level for long mode, and at poi length for spinning them like regular poi. The version made with Dyneema uses nodes for the shoulder points, and the splicing between Technora and Dyneema for the poi points. It's just thick enough so you can feel it clearly in your hand. We can also make it with only Technora all along and 4 nodes: select the last option in Rope color/type. The Technora we use is also rather soft and makes an excellent option.
When entering your length, please ensure it includes the total length, which covers both heads. For guidance on sizing, check out the video by Charlie Cushing, the original inventor of the Puppy Hammer: Here. The size ends up very close to your height + 100 cm. We'll leave the nodes loose so you can screw them in place at the perfect points for your size.

Fire Safety
Soak 90% of the head, let the rest absorb naturally. Never soak longer than 2–3 seconds. If fuel drips from the wick, it's already too much. Even on the first burn.
Never let the puppy burn without moving for more than 10 seconds. Technora can handle fire well while in movement.
Don't store your leash together with wicks that could still be soak in combustible. It could transfer and the Technora or Dyneema could light up at the next burn.
Never perform with fire alone: a dedicated safety assistant and a ready-to-use fire blanket are non-negotiable.
