Technora is the fire-resistant rope that has replaced chains and is now the standard for quality fire props. Discovered by LanternSmith, then popularized by Dark Monk around 2014–2015. Ideal for DIY fire props.

Technora is a para-aramid fiber (same as Kevlar) with excellent heat resistance (up to 500 °C), high abrasion resistance, and great tensile strength. We use it in a 12-strand rope construction, perfect for easy splicing (attachement method without knot).
Poi was the first prop we ever made, and discovering Technora was a game changer. No more heavy, bulky chains that burn your arms and behave like a they are drunk when you throw them. The feeling of Technora is just so much better.
To make your tether, you'll need to learn the Brummel splice method and a splicing needle.

Sizing
Each rope size gives you two possible spliced tether options, depending on whether you splice the full length (double layer) or not (single layer):
1.2 mm
— your dream rope for Leviwands3 mm
— various special props and projects: Fire Sun Wheel, Fire Dapostar, Fire Tassels, Mini Props, etc.5 mm spliced becomes 7 mm
— ideal for Monkey Fists (under 150 gr)6 mm spliced becomes 9 mm
— ideal for Isis Poi (150–200 gr)8 mm spliced becomes 12 mm
— ideal for Gorilla Fists (over 200 gr)Single layer = more flexible. You will need to double splice at least the first 15 to 20 cm to bury the tail of the rope safely.
Double layer = stiffer, and easier to splice. You will need to start with 135 cm of rope to get a double spliced tether of 60 cm.
