Iron powder lacks ambition? Titanium powder lacks restraint. The sparks are bigger, brighter, hotter. It really crackles. Same principle, pushed all the way to its pyrotechnic conclusion. And like everything that burns harder, it asks for a little more respect in return.
How to use titanium powder
Soak your wicks as usual with your fuel of choice. Then take a pinch of powder and scatter it over the wicks, as delicately as if you were dusting icing sugar over a cake you're about to set on fire. Hold a clean dry container underneath to catch the excess that doesn't stick to the Kevlar.
A word on your Kevlar
Each burning titanium particle is a micro-source of intense heat. When these particles lodge inside Kevlar fibers, they don't just deposit heat: they briefly combust there, at temperatures that go well beyond your usual flames.
We've never run any serious comparative studies on the subject, nor observed major wick lifespan losses, but as a general rule it increases heat, so things can degrade faster.
Our recommendations:
Use it in moderation. A light dusting is more than enough.
Save it for shows where you can charge extra for special effects, or for special occasions.
Don't try the effect for the first time in front of an audience: it can catch you off guard.
Don't use it every session. Your Kevlar will thank you.

Fine titanium powder can ignite on contact with a spark and melt progressively, producing a slow but very difficult to stop combustion, as neither water nor a standard fire extinguisher can put it out. Store it in a closed container at all times, away from any heat source or spark. In case of accident, smother with dry sand or earth, never use water.
Keep powder away from your eyes. Store dry or moisture will ruin it. Never dip your soaked gear into the powder container: the fuel will clump everything together and guaranteed chaos follows.
This product is intended for professional performers. Always handle fire with caution and in the presence of a person trained in fire safety, with an extinguishing towel ready to use.
